Hagan Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, designed to provide recipients with the opportunity to graduate college debt-free.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
2. Must attend a traditional public high school located in the U.S. that is governed by a school district.
3. Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average.
4. Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation.
5. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college.
6. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2024 until commencement of the 2024 fall semester in college. Work can be performed at recipient discretion. Work must be regularly scheduled employment performed under supervision for compensation.
7. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2022 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $85,000. “Household Income” is defined as the total income received by all members of a household living under the same roof.
8. Finalists will be notified in February 2024. Finalists must provide a copy of their FAFSA SAR showing their EFC.
9. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.
10. Must not have a felony conviction.
The intended recipient is a high-achieving goal-driven student having substantial financial need.

Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

This scholarship is for future engineers planning to earn a bachelor’s degree in a computer science related field of study (see FAQ section for a listing of related majors) from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college intending to transfer to a 4-year college. This opportunity is offered to support students with a notable need for financial assistance. Applicants must have at least a 2.3 (on 4.0 scale) GPA and be classified as one of the following: United States citizen, United States permanent resident, or Employment Authorized to work in the United States.

Elizabeth Spelman Health Career Scholarship
Deadline: Delivered to hospital no later than 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2023
The Elizabeth Spelman Health Career Scholarship program was established by Dr. Arch E. Spelman in memory of his mother. Dr. Spelman was instrumental in the development of the hospital in Smithville, formerly known as Spelman Memorial Hospital, now known as St. Luke's North Hospital-Smithville Campus. Twelve scholarships of $2,000 are given each year. Students must be a high school senior, entering college/university in the fall of 2023, with a declared major in a health-related curriculum.

American Legion Scholarship Programs

The American Legion has 7 different scholarships to apply for.
Charles L. Bacon Scholarship - Must be a member of The American Legion Family, i.e., Legion Member, Auxiliary Member, S.A.L. Member, or a descendant* of any member thereof.
Erman W. Taylor Scholarship - Must be the descendent* of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States, and having an honorable discharge.
Joseph J. Frank Scholarship - One boy who has attended a full session of Missouri Boys State or Missouri Cadet Patrol and one girl who has attended a full session of Missouri Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol and are the descendent* of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States, and having an honorable discharge.

SAL Scholarship - Applicant who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion or the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship - Each High School in the state of Missouri may submit only one application for this award. Applicant must be selected by the faculty of the High School he/she is attending based on the individuals financial need, participation in athletics, participation in school activities/clubs, volunteer work, exceptional leadership qualities, high moral standards and extreme patriotism. Lathrop HS seniors must submit their application to the Counseling Office by April 5, 2024.
AP Incentive GrantDeadline: June 1, 2024
The Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is a nonrenewable grant designed to encourage high school students to take and score well on Advanced Placement tests in mathematics and science.
To be eligible for the grant you must meet the following requirements:
- Achieve two grades of three or higher on Advanced Placement exams in the fields of math and/or science while attending a Missouri public high school. Qualifying Advance Placement exams in the fields of math or science include Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics C, Physics 1, Physics 2 and Statistics.
- Receive an award under the Access Missouri Student Financial Assistance Program or the A+ Scholarship Program in the academic year in which the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is awarded. Students who are eligible for the Access Missouri or A+ Scholarship programs but have a calculated award amount of zero are eligible for the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant.

MSTA Scholarship LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP- LHS Seniors

Representatives from Missouri State Teachers Association, recognizing the need for the recruitment of outstanding people into the teaching profession, have established a scholarship fund to be used to assist students going into the field of education. While preference is given to education it is not limited to the field. All seniors are encouraged to apply. This scholarship must be used at a college or university within the state of Missouri. We are looking for students with outstanding ability and sincerity of purpose. The Scholarship selection will be based on: character and personality, scholastic record, aptitude for teaching, sincerity of purpose to the teaching profession, and financial need. The PB&J scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed. DETAILS: There are two main GI Bill programs offering education assistance to survivors and dependents of Veterans: The Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Fry Scholarship) is available for children and spouses of Servicemembers who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001. The Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA) Program offers education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition.

DETAILS: The Coast Guard Foundation administers a variety of grant and scholarship programs designed to benefit the children and spouses of active-duty, retired and deceased Coast Guard personnel. These programs are a combination of need-based and merit-based awards, and include the RADM Arnold I. Sobel Scholarship, the Commander Ronald J. Cantin Scholarship and the Fallen Heroes Scholarship. These and other financial aid programs offer much needed assistance to the children and spouses of Coast Guard service-members who are struggling to meet the rising costs of a college education. Award amounts vary depending on program, school of attendance, academic achievement and financial need.

Fisher House Foundation - Scholarships for Military Children

DETAILS: Funded through the generosity of the Defense Commissary Agency, the Fisher House Foundation awards several Scholarships for Military Children for up to $2,000 a piece to unmarried sons and daughters of active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military commissary customers who will be enrolled full-time in a four-year undergraduate degree program. Eligible applicants must be attending a U.S. accredited institution, be under 23 years old, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
